چکیده

The existing experimental data concerning the Size Effects on the fracture parameters [1] were analyzed, in order to check the validity of certain theoretical models. In this aim, the present work studied: a) the use of some rigorous statistical tests in order to eliminate the “rough” errors, b) different theoretical models (e.g. the Bazant’s Size Effect Law (SEL) [2], the Modified Size Effect Law [3], [4], and the Carpinteri’s MultiFractal Scaling Law (MFSL) [5]) of the fracture parameters of concrete specimen, c) the compatibility of some of the above studied theoretical models relative to the experimental data, using certain recent procedures to study the global and local compatibility.

Numerical Analysis of Some Experimental Results Relative to Size Effects on the Fracture Parameters

In order to study the compatibility of some theoretical models referring to the size effects on the fracture parameters relative to the experimental data, some experimental results [1], [2], referring to the tensile strength σN, critical strain wu, and to the fracture energy GF of some concrete and rock specimens, respectively, were studied by means of the procedures of the numerical analysis [...

The Effects of Forming Parameters on the Single Point Incremental Forming of 1050 Aluminum Alloy Sheet

The single point incremental forming (SPIF) is one of the dieless forming processes which is widely used in the sheet metal forming. The correct selection of the SPIF parameters influences the formability and quality of the product. In the present study, the Gurson-Tvergaard Needleman (GTN) damage model was used for the fracture prediction in the numerical simulation of the SPIF process of alum...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Microstructural Evolutions, Mechanical Properties and Fracture Mode of AISI 1075 Resistance Weld

Weldability of high carbon steels due to the high percentage of carbon and consequently formation of martensitic structure is very poor. In this research, resistance spot welding of eutectoid high carbon steel 1075 is experimentally and numerically investigated from various points of view. The effect of welding current as one of the most effective parameters on failure mode, mechanical properti...

Effect of Impact Parameters on Explosive Welding of Tube to a Plug

Effects of some important parameters like impactor effects, plug geometry and initiation points on bonding aluminum tubes to aluminum plugs were studied. The impact velocity and dynamic angle between tube and plug should be precisely managed to achieve an optimum bonding condition. A new explosive bonding technique with the use of two material impactors was proposed. Results are especially suit...
